Learning Styles

Hi! So I'm back with my first "real post".  Recently in ROGATE we took a few tests (The Gardner and Gregorc Learning Styles Tests) I am going to tell you about my results! Obviously I found out my learning styles... according to the test, at least, but I found out something much more important... how to use them to my advantage.

One way I could use one of my preferred learning styles (Bodily-Kinesthectic) to my advantage is doing a hands on activity, such as a performing a lab in science rather than reading a procedure of the same lab.  Another thing I learned is that I am a concrete sequential learner (I barely know what it means...) but reading the lists of adjectives it defiantly suits me.  Some words on the list include practical, hands-on, checklists, and outlines just to name a few that are really 'me'.  I think in school this could really help me.  I've noticed in class I'm am very fidgety so Bodily-Kinesthetic seems about right for me.  While studying I'll have to think back to this and do exercise that keeps me moving.

Some people I admire are Carli Lloyd, my mom, and dad.  Carli Lloyd is most likely a Bodily-Kinesthetic learner (like me!) I think this because when a coach tells her something, maybe a correction, she thinks about it, remembers what the correction is and then actually performs the correction.  I think my dad is a Logical-Mathematical.  I think this because he's the one who sits down and does taxes, helps us with math homework, etc... he's the one who's good with numbers! Also it says he thinks by reasoning, couldn't be more exact! (I think I get that from him!) Finally, i think my mom's learning style is Linguistic.  My mom is good with grammar and spelling.  She also enjoys reading and writing, although she isn't the best at wording things in the most logical way... (she said it not me!!).

Overall I was not a fan of these learning style tests.  I do think that some of the results fit me but other single answers or the learning style in general were almost completely irrelevant to me.  However if I were to take the entire test I do think my results would have been different but either way, I will learn the way I am comfortable with no matter what a silly test says...

Note: the spacing for this post is coming out really weird on my blog... sorry about that!

First Post!! All About Me!

Hi! So I assume all of you know who I am, but if you don't I'm Caroline.  I'm 12 years old and in 7th grade.  My favorite class in school is by far ROGATE but I like English, Global Studies, and Tech Connect too (however, technology hates me!).  I enjoy learning about things I love to do like soccer and dance.  Also I find astronomy very interesting so I love learning about that too... and I might as well kill two birds with one stone and mention I want to be an astronomer when I grow up (although i cannot work a telescope for the life of me).  Some things that make me happy is sleeping, Tumblr, and being with my friends ;)
